Day 10 - Gethsemane, Upper Room, Mt of Olives, Garden Tomb

Another rainy whirlwind today - although by the end of the day it was getting a bit nicer, so high hopes (along with some prayers) for tomorrow...

We first visited the Garden of Gethsemane. This is a good site for the actual location of the place, as well as the dating of the trees. The big olive tree dates to Jesus time! Also here is a beautiful catholic church, and a good view of the Golden Gate:

Next we went to see the Upper Room where Jesus broke bread with the disciples before he was crucified. This is also a good location for this event... the building itself is from Crusader time, but the location itself is authentic based on archaeology and history, which I won't go into here, but you can (and should) research it for yourselves...

From there, as the rain finally slowed a bit, we went to the top of the Mount of Olives and took in an amazing view of the old city across the Kidron Valley. Some of our people also had fun with some folks selling trinkets to tourists in this very busy spot:

Finally, we visited the Garden Tomb for a service and to share communion. While this is most likely not the actual spot of the tomb, it is a very good facsimile of what the garden would have been like, and it is quiet and peaceful and run by Christians. A very pretty place to contemplate on Him, and what He did for us:

Ok - all caught up again. And tomorrow, our last full day of touring.... in the old city.
